Saddles: The core component needed to ride almost all creatures within ARK, both Default and Modded. Extinction Core adds special saddles within its content such as those needed for the Alpha Creatures while also adding unique ones for Bosses and more.
Side note: After an update to the Extinction Core Mod (Date/Time/Version unknown, please change this if someone knows), All EC saddles were modified to include the "Not Grindable" feature, meaning that they could no longer be broken down in the Industrial Grinder for large amounts of resources, however it is still possible to destroy and reclaim some resources through other external mods such as the Upgrade Station Mod, although these may return significantly less than previous updates.
It is also worth noting that some mods such as the Upgrade Station Mod also have the ability to increase the Armor of saddles which could benefit solo players or those struggling with the default systems of Extinction Core.

Alpha Saddle[]
Alpha Saddles are required to ride almost all Alpha Creatures (citation needed) and can be crafted in the player Inventory, the Extinction Core Workbench or for some rare and late game saddles: Tek Originator. Alpha Saddles - when equipped to the creature - will provide the "Empowered" buff, boosting damage and XP gains for those creatures, with some saddles also allowing creatures to use them as mobile workbenches for crafting or repairing on the go.
As Alpha Saddles are more powerful than the normal saddle and are required for the Alpha Creature, these saddles usually require Prime Resources such as Prime Pelt, Prime Hide, Prime Chitin or Keratin or even Prime Blood in addition to other rare resources such as EC Gems like Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire etc and Black Pearls.
Please note that Alpha Saddles require the Default Saddle engram to be purchased before the Alpha can. An example would be the default Parasaur Saddle must be unlocked (Player level 9 with an Engram Point cost of 9) before the Alpha Parasaur Saddle can be purchased.
It is possible to gain some higher tier saddles through progression and killing bosses or larger creatures, while also potentially gaining some through extremely rare drops such as Red Loot Crates.
Alpha Saddles in the table below are listed in order of Player Level from lowest to highest, although you may use the Find Feature (CTRL + F) to find a specific saddle.

Uber (Boss Tier) Saddle[]
Uber (or "Boss Tier") Saddles are required to tame the ARKs Boss Creatures and can be unlocked through the Engram System for 75 points each at Level 130.
Boss Saddles CANNOT be unequipped from Boss Creatures once equipped, so it may be wise to choose the best available creature to tame. If the Boss is uploaded to the ARK (Requires Uploading in Server Settings), the saddle is destroyed and a new one must be crafted. Please note that if a boss creature dies however (EG: Death to creature, or through a mod "Suicide" potion), the creature will drop the saddle which can be reused on a new boss or used to upgrade to an Improved Saddle.
All Boss Saddles require an "Essence" and "Matrix" of the selected creature. These essences can be recovered from the corpse of a dead boss and the Matrix can be earned by collecting specific artifacts and crafting it. Both the Matrix and Saddle can only be crafted at the TEK Originator (Originator is earned from killing any Boss Creature)

Improved Boss Saddles[]
"Improved Boss Saddles" can be crafted by Survivors once a corresponding blueprint has been found. Boss Saddles can be upgraded to increase their bonuses, such as a faster EXP gain, increased damage and resistances as-well as increased Torpor Reduction. Crafting these saddles however, take even more resources and time, but the payoff is well worth it! To craft these saddles, a blueprint is dropped upon death of a boss, so it is wise to work on it early if possible.
Beware though! Similar to normal Boss Saddles, these improved ones cannot be removed once equipped, so if you place a basic saddle on a creature, you won't be able to use it as a crafting ingredient for the upgraded saddle. Saddles can be claimed back upon the creatures death, so some survivors may be able to murder their own animal to obtain the saddle and then use that for a higher, better tame.
